Even although there weren’t many punters walking about Kinross Sunday Market the taking were up compared with last week. Having said that they were still well low: about 50% of the level of this time last year.
None of the traders are very happy with this situation, which is being made all the worse by the lack of coaches ferrying people to the market. This time last year we were seeing at least a few coaches a day. Something will need to be done: either a reduction in rent and/or coaches being run to far off places.
You may have noticed I used the term “punters” when talking about customers. I was a little shocked the first time I heard this as it sounded a little too much like some form of prostitution. Now that the takings are so low, it may be time to comtemplate a change in business that is targetted at a different type of punter!
