Broken Covenant

Let me say this simply to our politicians, the nation isn’t honouring its side of the Military Covenant. When the British Legion calls it the “Broken Covenant” then things must truly be wrong. Likewise, when serving soldiers with the stature of Sir Richard Dannatt state things aren’t right in the military then the British nation, and more particularly our politicians, need to take note.

Personally, I respect those people who enter our armed forces to keep our nation free and safe, some of whom give the ultimate sacrifice doing their duty. Don’t blame them if the politicians make the wrong decisions and pick the wrong fights! They deserve our support, they deserve our respect and they deserve our awe!

So how about you Westminster politicians stop fiddling your expenses, as reported in Dispatches this week, and honour the people who are willing to lay down their lives for us. The council tax discount / rebate of £140 per year is a slap in the face for people who spend six months or more serving away on tours in places like Iraq. They should be paying a minimal council tax when they are fighting abroad.

I’ll always give discounts or provide extras services for free to anyone serving in our armed forces that needs something doing with their computer.

Youth Leader Documentary

Seriously, John works as a youth leader.

I first saw him in a QED documentary, “John’s Not Mad”, many years ago. It was very sad to watch to begin with, but you couldn’t help but chuckle along with him when you observed the situations the producers of QED thought up: he was sent into his local library, shopping with his mum at the supermarket, etc.

John is naturally funny and would be charming even without the obscenities and abuse! To finish it off, let’s look at the top snippets:

What’s the Internet for Anyway?

Best explained in song…

I can’t recall the film from which this quote is taken, but it pretty much sums it up,

If you got rid of all the porn on the Internet, there’d just be one page left that said “Please bring back the porn”

Old Skhool Dance Classics

Some of my favourite old skhool classics…

Felix - Don’t You Want Me

OTT Quartet - Hold that Sucker Down

Alex’s Party - Don’t Give Me Your Life

S-Express - Theme from S-Express

Black Box - Ride on Time

Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar

Westbam vs Red Jerry - Wizards of the Sonic

Tall Paul - Rock Da House

Everything but the Girl - Missing

Massive Attack - Unfinished Symphony

These tracks are awe inspiring and uplifting played full pelt in a nightclub with a crowd that’s up for it! That’s only a starter for 10… more to come soon.

The Sun Gives Me a Mention

Page 11 of The Sun (Scottish Edition) gave me a mention today, but I’m not too happy! They called me a “Sun reader” - WTF. I generally don’t read any newspaper and even if I did, it most probably wouldn’t be The Sun. I’ve never been so insulted in my life!

So what was it about? We’ll somehow they picked up on the Turd Busters picture from a few weeks ago. It also looks like I’m getting the credit for taking the photo, but I only published it when I received it far down a chain of emails! I’d have given appropriate attribution at the time if I knew the name of the original photographer. They also didn’t indicate their source other than my name, which is so common that it causes confusion where ever I go as ten other people with the same name stand up when I’m called!

More alarming was no one from The Sun asked for my permission or asked to be referred to the copyright holder before publishing it. They don’t have permission or rights to put the photo in the newspaper. The photographer may wish to sue them :-). Now if The Sun only knew someone who could get them out of the shit!

I know you’re saying, “…but if you don’t read The Sun then how did you find out about it?” Well I received a call from the friend who sent me the photo after they received it from someone, who had received from someone, etc.

Now I have to admit that I did go out and buy a copy of today’s newspaper. Seems a long winded way for the marketing folk at The Sun to make me go out and purchase a paper, but if needs must to increase the circulation figures by one then kudos to them for caring.

I showed this to a colorectal surgeon today and he noticed another super funny thing that I’d previously missed: the email address has DILLIGAF within it! Now that is super clever and makes the email address suck just a little less! No business should be using an @aol.com email address.

New Research Findings

PROVE ME WRONG!

A South American scientist from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with very low intelligence read blog posts with their hand on the mouse or trackball.
