The Sun Gives Me a Mention

Page 11 of The Sun (Scottish Edition) gave me a mention today, but I’m not too happy! They called me a “Sun reader” - WTF. I generally don’t read any newspaper and even if I did, it most probably wouldn’t be The Sun. I’ve never been so insulted in my life!

So what was it about? We’ll somehow they picked up on the Turd Busters picture from a few weeks ago. It also looks like I’m getting the credit for taking the photo, but I only published it when I received it far down a chain of emails! I’d have given appropriate attribution at the time if I knew the name of the original photographer. They also didn’t indicate their source other than my name, which is so common that it causes confusion where ever I go as ten other people with the same name stand up when I’m called!

More alarming was no one from The Sun asked for my permission or asked to be referred to the copyright holder before publishing it. They don’t have permission or rights to put the photo in the newspaper. The photographer may wish to sue them :-). Now if The Sun only knew someone who could get them out of the shit!

I know you’re saying, “…but if you don’t read The Sun then how did you find out about it?” Well I received a call from the friend who sent me the photo after they received it from someone, who had received from someone, etc.

Now I have to admit that I did go out and buy a copy of today’s newspaper. Seems a long winded way for the marketing folk at The Sun to make me go out and purchase a paper, but if needs must to increase the circulation figures by one then kudos to them for caring.

I showed this to a colorectal surgeon today and he noticed another super funny thing that I’d previously missed: the email address has DILLIGAF within it! Now that is super clever and makes the email address suck just a little less! No business should be using an @aol.com email address.
