New business blog for Roundtrip Solutions Limited

Spent 20 minutes today setting up Wordpress for a new blog for my business.

I’ll be refactoring it over the coming weeks… keep watching!

Too Nice a Day for Work

Sunday is just about the only day of the week I really have to work! Today was far to nice a day to work, but alas work I had to do…

View of Lomond Hill View from Freuchie Picture of the car and trailer, so I was at work!

As you can see the sun was beating down all day, with hardly a cloud in the sky. Proof that I was indeed working can be seen by the trailer being attached to the car, which incidently doesn’t look like the banger it has truly become. Hopefully this good weather will last a few more days thereby allowing me a chance to get a wee bit of a tan or maybe a lobster-red sunburn - either will do!

Are You a Top of the Tree Monkey?

After reading today’s post entitled “Utterly gobsmacked” by Zoe, where she narrates on a very nasty work colleague in action, I recalled something that had seen me through many bad times and negative life-experiences within Corporate Nazi-land (no offence meant to readers from Germany - I know you are very nice people).

Top or bottom of the tree monkey image

My hope is that by sharing this I will have cheered up some of the leemings still stuck in the rut!

I don’t know its original source, but I’d like to thank the artist from the bottom of my tiny-wee heart.

Which Bank Queue?

For many years I looked on in envy at the lucky folk who simply marched into the bank, went straight to the business banking window and got first class service immediately. All of this whilst I stood for ten or more minutes in the personal banking queue for a transaction that usually only took a minute. Occasionally you’d get called over to this counter window when they’d run out of superior business customers to serve.

Since opening my business bank account this observation appears to have turned sour! About 50% of the time I find myself being met by a queue when I go marching up to the business banking counter. The customers currently being served seem to have major issues that tie up the counter staff for ages and ages and ages. What is going on?

Today I even jumped back over to the personal banking counters to do my business transactions. The next time I go they will probably have slow moving queues on both sides. The bank is conspiring against me!

Takings Up

Even although there weren’t many punters walking about Kinross Sunday Market the taking were up compared with last week. Having said that they were still well low: about 50% of the level of this time last year.

None of the traders are very happy with this situation, which is being made all the worse by the lack of coaches ferrying people to the market. This time last year we were seeing at least a few coaches a day. Something will need to be done: either a reduction in rent and/or coaches being run to far off places.

You may have noticed I used the term “punters” when talking about customers. I was a little shocked the first time I heard this as it sounded a little too much like some form of prostitution. Now that the takings are so low, it may be time to comtemplate a change in business that is targetted at a different type of punter! :-D

It Had To Happen Eventually!

My stall at Kinross Sunday Market Nice packaging, shame the USB flash drive is missing - presumed stolen! And another space where a buckle should be placed!

Sunday sees me selling hardware, consumables, paper and other computer stuff at Kinross Sunday Market.

Today was a bad one for many reasons…

Why Twelve Month Contracts?

A few days ago I visited an aquaintance who was just moving over to broadband. They had taken the easy option of Freeserve or Wanadoo or whatever they call themselves these days, along with the … Read the rest of this entry »
